A fire broke out in an apartment building located near the famous Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV) this Tuesday morning in Paris. A security perimeter was established by police while around ten fire trucks were deployed, while the store kept its doors closed.

The Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV), one of the major Parisian brands, was closed and evacuated Tuesday morning following a fire which broke out in a nearby residential building, noted a AFP journalist. The fire broke out around 8:45 a.m. in this building on rue Verrerie, located behind the department store in this district in the heart of the capital.

The BHV remains closed

A security perimeter was established by the police while around ten fire trucks were deployed, said the AFP journalist. When contacted, the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) was not immediately available to provide an assessment or an initial assessment of the damage.

By mid-morning, a plume of smoke was emerging from the first floor of the building and flames were visible on the second floor of the building, which has six floors. The staff of the main BHV building, located on the sidewalk opposite the damaged building, gathered in a neighboring building and the department store remained closed.
