No more traffic jams and parking hassles: the Paris – Mont Saint-Michel train is back on December 20! A good excuse to escape from Paname and admire the tides of this site, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979 (and all that, without any hassle).
Departure from Paris-Montparnasse, and in just a few hours, you are very close to this large Norman rock. The €29 ticket even includes the shuttle to the Mont, but be careful, a crucial detail: check “Le Mont-Saint-Michel” as the destination, otherwise, for €26, you will end up in Pontorson… walking. Bonus for residents of the South Channel: the line also works in the other direction, so you can reach Paris without stress.
Plan B for those traveling during the week: since October 14, a Nomad coach will pick you up directly from Mont Saint-Michel and drop you off at Villedieu-les-Poêles station, 2.5 km from the islet. From there, a train from the Granville-Paris Montparnasse line takes you back to the capital. Less direct, certainly, but a great opportunity to cross a piece of Normandy countryside along the way.
