The general director of the Nordic Institute for Research in Environment and Occupational Health in Sept-Îles, Julie Carrière, was awarded the “Leaders of influence – Organization or social enterprise” prize at the Business Women Awards Gala of Quebec 2024. She stands out once again for her leadership in the environment.
“Receiving this recognition is an honor, which testifies to the collective work of an entire team dedicated to the protection of our environment and the health of our communities,” declared Julie Carrière during the ceremony. “Together, we are committed to preserving Quebec’s blue gold, thus ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.”
Unwavering commitment
In a context where the climate emergency is increasingly felt, Julie Carrière acts with an innovative vision and unwavering commitment. The Quebec Business Women’s Network highlighted its exceptional career Thursday at its 24th Gala, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
Dr. Carrière, chemical engineer, has more than 30 years of experience. She co-founded the two divisions of INREST, the Industrial-Port Expertise Center and the Nutshimit-Shipek Expertise Center. She developed a large-scale $11M pilot project in Quebec. Its Enviro-Actions preventive management program for industrial-port zones received international recognition in 2024. Julie Carrière is leading this project with INREST and other partners.
Through INREST, Julie Carrière and her team actively contribute to the preservation of ecosystems by combining scientific research and social impact. The approach takes into account ecological, social and economic dimensions, with the aim of supporting sustainable development while ensuring the safety and health of workers and local populations.
Sixteen awards were presented at the annual Quebec Business Women Gala on November 14. The CEO of Groupe Int-elle de Sept-Îles, Mirka Boudreau, was a finalist in the “Company with the most international recognition” category.
