The Barcelona circuit welcomes MotoGP riders for the Barcelona Solidarity Grand Prix. Francesco Bagnaia took pole position and won the Saturday race.
Victoire de Francesco Bagnaia
Like the day before, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín did not choose the same strategy for the tires. All the drivers chose the hard front, except Johann Zarco who took a medium. Francesco Bagnaia chose a soft at the back while Jorge Martín took a medium. For the other drivers on the grid, it's a mix between the three compounds.
Francesco Bagnaia maintains the lead of the race, closely followed by Jorge Martín, Marc Márquez, Enea Bastianini and Pedro Acosta. The Tech3 GASGAS driver was quickly overtaken by Aleix Espargaró. Marc Márquez got the better of the leader of the drivers' standings at the start of the second lap. The following lap, Aleix Espargaró overtook Enea Bastianini and found himself behind his friend Jorge Martín. Behind, Franco Morbidelli, 6th in the race, was jostled by Alex Márquez which made him lose a position, while Enea Bastianini got rid of Aleix Espargaró. But the Aprilia rider did not give up and took 4th place at the start of the 5th lap. Joan Mir, who was in 12th position, crashed on the 7th lap. At the start of the next lap, Enea Bastianini was forced to widen in the first chicane and found himself in front of Franco Morbidelli. But the Pramac Ducati rider quickly overtook the Ducati rider.
After the last tour, Francesco Bagnaia is under the threat of Marc Márquez even though Jorge Martín is 1″3 of the second premiers. Aleix Espargaró, Alex Márquez, Pedro Acosta, Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini, Brad Binder and Marco Bezzecchi are next.
During the following laps, Marc Márquez remained in Francesco Bagnaia's wheel, without ever attacking him, while Jorge Martín found himself alone on the track, Aleix Espargaró trying to resist Alex Márquez. Pedro Acosta is a little further away while Enea Bastianini is three seconds behind the rookie of the 2024 season. The Ducati rider has caught up and manages to overtake the young Spanish rider eight laps from the finish. Brad Binder also took advantage a lap later, as did Franco Morbidelli. Alex Rins, 20th, receives a Long Lap for cutting turn 2. He did not complete it and ends up with a double Long Lap. Aleix Espargaró was overtaken by Alex Márquez on the last lap.
The last victory of the season goes to Francesco Bagnaia, who overcomes Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín, who becomes the new MotoGP World Champion! Alex Márquez, Aleix Espargaró, Berad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi et Pedro Acosta follow.
