The Little Brothers of the Poor association, created in 1946 by Armand Marquiset, has had its head office in Tours for 42 years. Volunteers support single people in their homes all year round. During the summer period, day trips are offered to allow meetings and exchanges.
A gîte in Tauxigny-Saint-Bauld accommodates around sixty people in a calm, relaxing and rural environment. This was the case from Sunday June 16 to Friday June 21, 2024. These visitors for the day are followed by volunteers from the association, transport, catering, daytime entertainment and return home in the evening are planned. .
Around board games, collective activities, pétanque, those present come together to break their solitude. “I have been coming to this magnificent place for seventeen years to meet people and have good times,” confides Lucette, there for the day.
Brigitte Ferry, president of the Little Brothers of the Poor of the Central region, is present on site to share these hours of support.
“There are now 15,000 volunteers on the national territory and it is a pleasure to be able to welcome around sixty people who are isolated or in precarious situations in this magnificent place.
