Father Jean-Pierre Bonnafoux died this Saturday, June 22, at the age of 85.

This Saturday, June 22, we learned of the death of Father Jean-Pierre Bonnafoux, at the age of 85.

A man of the Church with an atypical background, he was known for his commitment and his positions against injustice and violence.

He got involved very early on alongside the most deprived by becoming a priest-worker in Marseille, after his military service in Algeria. He then traveled the world, from Africa to Asia via the countries of the East.

Returning to his native island, this figure from the canton of Vico, father superior of the convent for nine years and oblate of Mary Immaculate, was at the origin of numerous achievements in the micro-region, such as the Sorru in Musica Festival or the Convent Meetings by Vico.

A student chaplain at the University of Corsica, he focused his research on the evolution of the sacred on the island. A question at the origin of the writing of an essay on contemporary Corsica, U Terramotu, published in 2015.
