An exceptional security system was put in place to supervise this League of Nations meeting, which took place in a tense climate after last week's violence on the sidelines of a Maccabi Tel-Aviv match in Amsterdam.
A total of 4,000 police officers and gendarmes were deployed around and, rarely, in the Saint-Denis stadium, as well as on public transport and throughout Paris. In addition to the police, around 1,600 security agents were mobilized at the stadium, while the RAID ensured the security of the Israel team.
The match was marked by a brief incident in the stands, where stewards intervened to prevent Israeli supporters from mingling with French fans, noted an AFP journalist.
In images obtained by AFP, we can see spectators exchanging blows in a stand at the Stade de France, one of whom is carrying an Israeli flag on his shoulders.
Other amateur videos broadcast on the social network X show spectators running in the aisles, some with Israeli flags, while other supporters whistle and boo.
Questioned by AFP, the police headquarters did not wish to communicate any information on this short crowd movement, pending clarification on the circumstances, which were “still unclear”.
