Several French players gave their impressions after the draw against Israel (0-0) on Thursday at the Stade de France.
Jules Koundé (defender of the Blues, after 0-0 draw against Israel ) : “We feel frustration, anger. A bit of everything. We didn’t have a good match at all. We had chances, but we didn’t put in everything we needed to. I don’t know if we can be happy about qualifying after the match we played. This is the only positive point of this evening. We will have to do much better if we want to win in Italy, they are a team with much more quality than our opponent this evening. We will have to be more aggressive, more intense and finish well.” (on TF1)
Randal Kolo Muani (Blues striker) : “It was very complicated, we weren’t able to capitalize on our opportunities. We could have done better but we will remember the positive, the qualification and this small point. (…) We said things to each other at half-time, we tried to be 100%, despite this we were unable to score. We’re not going to dwell on that, we’re going to raise our heads because we have a match coming up very quickly (Sunday in Italy, Editor’s note). (Little playing time at club) It’s different from playing and training… I played 90 minutes. I gave the maximum of myself. I was tired at the end. Problem of address, desire for the Blues? Not a question of desire. You have to focus on the last gesture, the goalkeeper did the job too. We could have done better.

It hurts my heart a little to see the stadium like that.
Randal Cole Muani
The coach’s words? That we could do better. We have to show it on Sunday. Unpleasantly surprised by the performance? No, the team wanted to do better, to show more. We are a little disappointed but we have to get our heads up quickly. Successful recently in Blue? Nothing has changed. I missed the last gesture too. I had opportunities. I could have put them at the bottom. We can’t score and win every time… (…) It hurts my heart a little to see the stadium like that but the supporters were there, they pushed until the end and that’s nice.” (in mixed zone)
Ibrahima Konaté (Blues defender) : “It’s a huge disappointment. We dominated, we had a lot of opportunities to break the match, but we lost time, especially in the first half, by being a little sluggish. We don’t lose, we are qualified but we can’t be proud. We lacked efficiency, we will have to do better in the next matches. We have to be happy to be qualified, but we have to learn from our mistakes to be better.” (on TF1)
