– A self-employed person knowingly failed to declare more than 290,000 euros to Urssaf.
A self-employed person forgot to declare more than 290,000 euros and yet he has just been released by the courts. This astonishing affair took place in Calvados and is reported by Ouest-France, Wednesday November 13. A 32-year-old microentrepreneur, originally from Méry-Bissière, was tried, in his absence, at the Lisieux criminal court on Tuesday. He is accused of having deliberately failed to declare the turnover of his company between 2016 and 2019.
According to our colleagues, Urssaf alerted the Lisieux prosecutor on January 25, 2021 that this food retailer had not declared for these four years the sum of 290,468.26 euros, corresponding to the estimated amount of its sales figures. annual business. Urssaf closes its account on February 22, 2017, before deregistering the self-employed person on March 20. Summoned to explain himself to Urssaf, the thirty-year-old did not bother to move, and even allowed himself to hang up on his interlocutor, says West France.

Already 9 convictions on his criminal record
On November 3, 2020, the microentrepreneur was informed by registered mail that a procedure for concealed work had been launched against him. The Lisieux court considers that“he deliberately failed to declare his activity, his turnover for personal enrichment.» On July 13, 2022, the case was judged in criminal composition and the defendant received a fine of 1,000 euros and was ordered to undergo a citizenship training course.
However, the man, who already has 9 convictions on his criminal record (theft in meetings, unintentional injuries, driving without insurance, without a license, theft in meetings, use of narcotics) did not honor his last sentence, hence the summons at Tuesday’s criminal hearing. For the prosecutor, “there were significant flows in his accounts between 2016 and 2019. He was notified by mail, then of his deregistration. The moral element is characterized”. But against all expectations, the court found the incomplete investigation because he did not have a document to verify the information presented to the prosecution, and therefore issued an acquittal.
