Aurélien Duchêne publishes “Putin’s Russia against the West: The Russian threat beyond the war in Ukraine” (Eyrolles). Radicalization of Russian society, scenarios of an extension of the crisis… He explains that the worst phase of this conflict is perhaps ahead of us.

In Putin's Russia against the West: The Russian threat beyond the war in Ukraine (Eyrolles), Aurélien Duchêne describes the solidity of Russian power, analyzes what within Russian power and society announces the worsening of the authoritarian drift of this country, and explores the probable scenarios of confrontation with NATO .

Marianne : You defend the idea that the Russian threat is underestimated. What internal dynamics within Russian power and society lead you to think that this threat is more serious than we believe?

Aurélien Duchêne: Russian power remains profoundly opportunistic, but its ideological dimension is underestimated: this is reinforced around a coherent although composite corpus, which permeates Putin's speeches as well as school textbooks. This results in a social project which perpetuates the confrontation with the West, and a radicalization of it.
