Businessman Tahirou Sarr faces a legal investigation into a complex land case in Dakar. According to DakarActu, this sensitive file is currently being examined by the judge of the second cabinet, who has instructed the police to carry out in-depth investigations. Arrests could be made shortly, according to sources close to the case.
The origins of the case date back to 2014, when families who had inherited land in Ngor were approached for the sale of three land titles. To secure this transaction, they called on a reputable lawyer, who, however, betrayed their trust. According to the newspaper, this lawyer would have maneuvered in secret with Tahirou Sarr and influential actors, including Mamour Diallo, then Director of Estates, as well as several senior officials. Together, they allegedly orchestrated a false expropriation procedure for public utility, thus concealing an embezzlement of funds.
This fraudulent operation was based on a falsified conciliation report, promising the families compensation of 700 million CFA francs. But, according to the documents revealed, these funds were never paid, and the papers given to the families were counterfeit. Upon realizing the deception, the families filed a complaint, exposing this complex fraud scheme.
The investigation, led by Bara Sangharé, revealed a network of illegal practices involving several public officials. Due to the contradictions and lack of evidence in certain aspects, the prosecutor forwarded the file to the investigating judge for further investigation. According to L'Observateur, arrests could occur in the coming days, and this large-scale corruption case could soon be entrusted to the Financial Judicial Pool.
