Moscow is concerned about the creation of a base in Poland, which is part of the American defense system against ballistic missiles. It was officially inaugurated on Wednesday November 13, complementing a system already existing in Türkiye, Romania and Spain, reports BFMTV.

The Polish Minister of Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, welcomed during a ceremony at the Redzikowo base, in the north of the country, a “ event of historic importance for the security of Poland, the United States and NATO ».

The device is intended to protect against ballistic missile threats emanating from outside the Euro-Atlantic area, in particular from Iran.

Russia therefore sees this as a danger to its security, despite NATO's assurances that it is in no way directed against it.

After the official inauguration of the site on Wednesday, Moscow again protested against the presence of this base 230 km away from the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, strategic bastion and headquarters of the Russian fleet in the Baltic Sea.
