In the description of the Leetchi page dedicated to fundraising, Philippe Becquet explains: “support for the burial of Daniel Becquet. My brother killed on November 10 along the Roubaix canal. A big thank you to all those who can help “.

An “unimaginable” crime
Sunday, November 10, at the end of the day, Daniel Becquet was killed on Chemin du Halage, in Marcq-en-Barœul, while he was walking a friend’s dog. The man was found by a jogger, who tried to revive him. In vain. He died before help arrived.
This tragedy caused great emotion in the northern commune, particularly that of Bernard Gérard, the mayor.
“I have a deep thought for this person who is the victim of a terrible murder. We can only be deeply saddened by such a situation. I have a lot of compassion for this family,” declared the councilor at the microphone of BFM Grand Lille.
He considered in particular that such an attack was “unimaginable” in such a busy area, located near stores, highlighting “an extremely rare tragedy”.
Three suspects
On the day of the murder, three people were arrested. Requested by BFM Grand Lille, the prosecution indicates that the defendants were referred Tuesday evening. All dispute their involvement in the victim’s death. Among them, there are at least two homeless men, including a 50-year-old.
The suspects were indicted as part of an open judicial investigation on the charge of intentional homicide in a state of obvious intoxication.
Two were temporarily imprisoned, the third was placed under judicial supervision. A fourth person is wanted.
