What legal status for extraterrestrials on planet Earth? This is the intriguing question that will be asked during the opening evening of the Finistellar festival which will take place in Quimper (Finistère) from November 15 to 17, 2024.
“We are going to rely on the film District 9 by Neill Blomkamp (2009), in which visitors from beyond the stars, parked in District 9, in South Africa, are rejected, their rights violated”, presents Guillaume Volant, from the organizing association La 29e dimension.
Here is the trailer:
The screening will be followed by an exchange with Claude Arzretired lawyer. “He wrote an essay on the subject in the journal Orbs : in the event that extraterrestrial creatures arrive on Earth, what rights and duties should they be given? Should they be granted citizenship? » (Friday 15 at 7 p.m. at Novomax, free participation).
