Fire on a farm in Rochechouart: 500 goats perish in the flames

There's nothing left. This Wednesday morning, at a place called Chez Cramaud in the hamlet of Biennac, in Rochechouart, farmers could only observe the damage.

A major fire occurred during the night of Tuesday November 12 to Wednesday November 13 in their 2,200 m2 agricultural building which housed their 500 goats. All died in the flames.

An open investigation

According to firefighters, the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. this Wednesday. Faced with the extent of the damage, around twenty firefighters were mobilized for several hours.

The fire was extinguished around 6 a.m. this Wednesday morning, but firefighters were still on site in the morning to check that the fire did not restart.

An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to find out the causes of the fire.

“They lost everything”

Present on site, the mayor of Rochechouart, Anne-Marie Almoster-Rodigues, said she was “very touched”: “It’s a real tragedy for this couple of operators. We visited the site last year with the sub-prefect, and we could only see the work accomplished. These are dynamic, voluntary young people who have invested in this operation. They need our support. »
