Following the devastating floods which hit the Valencia region in Spain, a surge of international solidarity is being organized. The Spanish Interior Ministry, in coordination with the Valencian authorities, announced that it had accepted international aid.
Morocco deployed a contingent of seventy rescue workers and twenty-four trucks to participate in the clearance and debris evacuation operations. Portugal also responded to the call by sending around twenty pumps, seven construction machines (excavators and backhoes) and two transport trucks, managed by the Portuguese National Emergency and Civil Protection Command.

France, for its part, provides qualified personnel and handling equipment for the treatment of sludge and debris. Paris also chartered four super-heavy transport vehicles to transport the rubble to the processing sites.
This international aid is part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, activated on November 8. The Spanish Interior Ministry is currently studying other proposals for assistance from several European countries, in order to submit them to the Valencian authorities.
