In the town of Bezues-Bajon, in the south of the Gers department, firefighters responded to a fire in a livestock building, around 6 p.m. this Tuesday, November 12. The flames quickly rose from the building, which was 400 m2 large.
The breeding building, whose structure was entirely made of wood, housed around 5,000 chicks, was completely engulfed in flames. The results show 4000 dead chicks, no human victims.
Near the latter was a gas tank. According to the firefighters present on site, the latter had a leak, which was quickly stopped by closing a valve. 25 firefighters were mobilized to put out the fire using fire hoses. The fire was finally brought under control early in the evening.
