And mur support collapsed at the foot of the Caillou walkway in Marmande: the town hall wants to be reassuring.
It was a local resident who raised the alarm on Facebook: a retaining wall below the Ferryman’s Towerin Marmande, had collapsed, following the heavy rains which affected the region.
The wall is collapsing, the town hall reassures
Indeed, this collapse is visible from the walkway of Caillou, and a week later, nothing has changed.
The town hall of Marmande wants to be reassuring about the solidity of the structure and the tower, known as the Tour du Passeur, which is above.
After a study of the technical services, the deputy mayor, Alain Pascal, explains that “there is nothing serious. It’s just a buttress, a kind of terrace plateau which has collapsed, so there is nothing dangerous for the Ferryman’s Tower.”
There is therefore no “extreme urgency” to repair the disaster, according to the elected official, especially since the site is forbidden access to pedestrians, as he points out.
