This Monday, November 11, the Russian press agency Tass revealed “a plot” implicating Ukraine as well as “British agents”. According to our colleagues, the latter would have suggested to a Russian pilot to flee Russia with his family and send them to Moldova via Turkey.
The video was published on the website of the Russian press agency Tass on Monday, November 11. It shows a man who presents himself as a Russian helicopter pilot and to whom Ukrainian intelligence (HUR) allegedly offered to hijack his aircraft and then make it flee to Moldova.
According to a report from Russian intelligence (FSB), taken up by KyivPost, “British agents” would be involved in this “conspiracy”.
“Sergei”
According to our colleagues, the pilot was contacted via the Messenger application by a member of HUR, under the nickname “Sergei”. He would then have received instructions from him telling him how to cross the border to avoid Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses and on which airfield he would be able to land after having “poisoned” his crew.
However, after telling other soldiers about his story, they informed their superiors. The Tass agency, which cites an FSB press release, explains that thanks to the information given by the HUR to this pilot, concerning the position of the anti-aircraft defenses, the Russian army was able to attack it and they “were subsequently subjected to significant damage”.
A first hijack attempt in July
This summer, the Ukrainians had already attempted to hijack another aircraft, a Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bomber from the Russian Aerospace Forces. HUR then offered the pilot nearly 3 million dollars and Italian nationality to the pilot.
