Horror struck the small town of Berloz this weekend. Ethan, a little boy aged 3 and a half, was found lifeless on Sunday morning, in his bedroom of a family home on rue de Willine.
The prosecution announced that he would speak this Monday afternoon, around 5:15 p.m. Barely ten minutes later, the speech was already over.
The prosecution tells us that the young boy was not slit but that he died from suffocation. The autopsy took place this Monday. It revealed the cause of death and clarified the presence of two wounds, on the cheek and chin. These wounds were caused by a sharp element. Still according to the prosecution, his death took place between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The mother was placed under arrest warrant. She claims to remember nothing. She told police that she left the home at 6 a.m. this Sunday after discovering her son’s lifeless body. She confided that she left “with dark thoughts”. The mother also suffered from wounds and injuries to her hand.
The father was released.
The infanticide was confirmed by André Jamers, head of the Hesbaye police. The child’s mother, who was on the run, was located and arrested by police. The father was also arrested. Both are currently deprived of their liberty. “It is indeed a suspicious death and there is no doubt about the intervention of a third party. Both parents have been arrested and investigations are underway,” confirmed Catherine Collignon, First Deputy Prosecutor of the King of Liège, this Sunday late in the afternoon.
