The Memphis Grizzlies outscored the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA game of the night. An offensive festival on one side, a nightmarish evening on the other. Deciphering a meeting without suspense where the young people of Memphis shone brightly…
An earthquake shook the NBA floor last night. The Memphis Grizzlies simply crushed the Portland Trail Blazers with a score of 134 to 89. More than a victory, a real demonstration of strength from the young Memphis guard against the unresponsive Blazers.
The Grizzlies in demonstration
From the outset, the Grizzlies showed Portland who would be boss on the floor this night. Carried by an untenable Jaren Jackson Jr and author of 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 interceptions, Memphis played its basketball. Santi Aldama (16 pts, 6 rebounds, 6 rebounds), Jake LaRavia (18 pts, 4 rebounds) and Scotty Pippen Jr (17 pts, 4 rebounds) also participated in the party, punishing each opposing error.
We had a solid, very complete match. Everyone contributed their stone to the building. This bodes well for the future.
This is how Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins summed up the meeting. His players knew how to impose their rhythm, their aggression, leaving no respite for the overwhelmed Blazers. Memphis knew how to find the 3-point target and punish the slightest error with lightning counterattacks.
The Blazers are sinking
Opposite was the Bérézina. Unable to develop their game, the Blazers suffered the law of Memphis throughout the game. Only Jerami Grant survived with 20 points, where his teammates completely sank.
We missed it, clearly. We were not at the level of intensity necessary to exist in this match. It’s a defeat that hurts, we’ll have to bounce back quickly.
Chauncey Billups, Portland coach, could only see the damage after the match. His team never existed, crushed in all areas of the game. Despite Dale Clingan’s 13 points coming off the bench, the Blazers never found the solution.
Lesson to learn
In addition to the difference in points which is enormous (45 points difference), this match shows the rise in power of Memphis’ young talents. Faced with an admittedly diminished team, they were able to impose their basketball, varied and effective. A real signal sent to the competition.
Team | Points scored | Difference |
Memphis Grizzlies | 134 | +45 |
Portland Trail Blazers | 89 | -45 |
Portland, on the other hand, must question itself. This scathing setback should serve as a trigger to raise our heads. The Blazers have talent, it’s up to them to put it into practice from now on to avoid this kind of rout.
