Ziv, 23, from Adi, was murdered by Palestinian Hamas terrorists while trying to flee the Supernova music festival on October 7, 2023.
He participated in the rave-party with a group of friends who also grew up in the Jezreel Valley, including his close friend, Ben Bernstein. They fled together when the rocket fire started and tried to hide in the forest near the road when they realized Hamas terrorists were opening fire on the passengers. They were both killed.
Or’s family searched for news of him for a week before being informed that he had been murdered and that his body had been identified.
He was buried on October 13 in Adi, a few days before his 24th birthday. He leaves behind his mother, Sima, and his sisters Dana and Liel. His father, Reuven, died of a heart attack when Or was 13, a loss his family says hit him hard.
Gold was born in Romania and was adopted by Sima and Reuven at six months old, according to a state eulogy, which delighted his older sisters who begged them for a brother or sister. After finishing high school, he served in the Kfir Brigade of the Israeli army, and after his release he spent time traveling, particularly in Europe, which he loved to visit.
Or worked in a textile import company, after having been employed installing solar panels on roofs. He was also pursuing a burgeoning modeling career. He loved spending time with his friends and partying, those close to him said. He was also very close to his family, sharing a common tattoo of a shamrock with his sisters, and devoting many hours of babysitting to his nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Dana, wrote on Instagram about all the things she misses at Or, how “there’s no one at work I can annoy in the morning before I smoke a cigarette, or stand at the aware of what happened at home the day before.
“I miss the way you would get mad at me if I said something you didn’t like.” After thinking about it, I received a message saying, ‘Sister, I know everything you said was for my good,'” she added.
“I miss your laughs, I miss our conversations, I miss everything… I miss you so much. »
A month after his assassination, his sister Liel wrote: “If only we had known, we would have hugged you a little more, we would have told you a little more that you were the best and that you were ours . »
In the weeks following Or’s death, Liel wrote: “We got a glimpse into the life of Or Ziv, the friend, the soldier, the student, the salesman. So many people that you had probably already forgotten over the years have come to tell us who you are to them. »
“And we were privileged too. We were able to be together. A super close and united family who knew how to cope with everything. You, who grew up with the difficulties of a pre-teen and who did not always smile, but who continued to fight alongside us to grow and become an immense light, brilliant, optimistic and unique. »
“I imagine you up there, sitting among the angels, with your smile and your sparkling eyes. »
