The new battalion is exclusively made up of reservists (formed from the reserve units of the brigade regiments. Its staff is also made up of reservists). The 6th BLB reserve battalion has four companies, or more than 200 soldiers. While ensuring the guarding of military areas, this reserve battalion could be responsible for operational defense missions of the national territory, aimed in particular at securing sensitive infrastructure, controlling areas or searching for intelligence, or even defending certain points if necessary. . If the operational situation required it, units could be temporarily placed under the authority of the reserve tactical staff.
