“We had our tires slashed, one of our refrigerated trucks was set on fire. What’s next?” Guy Vauban, president of the humanitarian association Mir founded by Father Bruzzone in 1992 in Nice, is worried. Very worried: “They are going to attack the L’Ariane social grocery store?”
The facts are serious. And repeat themselves. “There were several acts of sabotage this summer”traces the one who recently took over the reins of the association, “because Father Bruzzone is very tired and is no longer in good condition.” The tires of a refrigerated truck were slashed in the church square on November 6. Two days later, employees found one of their refrigerated trucks reduced to ashes on Boulevard de L'Ariane…
“This Friday, we had to close the grocery store”laments Guy Vauban.
Two complaints filed
Who deplores: “It costs money for the association which is already experiencing financial difficulties, but it also costs the ladies of L'Ariane who were unable to get supplies… It is the most vulnerable who suffer.”
He now fears “for the safety of employees and volunteers: what if they attacked them?”
Does anyone blame this association which has experienced upheavals and a major social plan in recent months? Guy Vauban does not have the answer. Two complaints have been filed and an investigation is underway.
