An extraordinary police force and a President of the Republic in the stands. Emmanuel Macron will attend the France-Israel match which will be held at the Stade de France on Thursday, in the League of Nations, the Elysée announced on Sunday November 10. This participation will allow the Head of State “to show its full support for the French team as it does in every match, but also to send a message of fraternity and solidarity after the intolerable anti-Semitic acts which followed the match in Amsterdam this week”according to the president’s entourage.

During the night from Thursday to Friday, Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were violently attacked by groups of people, on the sidelines of the Europa League match against Ajax Amsterdam, in the Dutch capital. This violence led to the brief hospitalization of five supporters of the Israeli club and the arrest of around sixty people.

In anticipation of the meeting between the French and Israeli national teams counting for the 5th day of the League of Nations, the police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, announced an exceptional deployment of the police as part of a “extremely reinforced device”, “very unusual” for an international match: 4,000 police officers and gendarmes will be deployed around and, rarely, in the stadium, as well as on public transport and throughout Paris.

Around 1,600 security agents will also be mobilized at the Stade de France. The Raid, the elite unit of the national police, will be engaged for the security of the Israel team, continued the Paris police prefect, guest of BFMTV.
