They intervened on avenue d'Offenbourg, in Lons-le-Saunier around 9 a.m., this Sunday morning, after being alerted to the presence of a strong smell of gas by residents of the building located on number 105. Accompanied by GRDF agents, the firefighters carried out analyzes which quickly ruled out the risk of explosion.

After being alerted by other residents of other buildings and carrying out further research, the firefighters involved managed to determine that the smell was perceptible from number 3 rue de Ripley located at the top of the hill. , a stone's throw from the shopping area. They then carried out checks at this precise location, once again excluding any risk of explosion.

According to them, the smell bothering residents of the neighborhood could be explained by a deposit of hydrocarbons in the sewers, thus requiring cleaning of the network with water. In total, 17 firefighters and four engines were mobilized, including an intervention vehicle for technological risks aimed at completing the initial analyses. It remains to be seen how this pollution got there.
