A fire in a Seveso classified company near Rennes caused a release of smoke

During the night of Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 November 2024, a fire broke out on the site of the Triadis company, in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, a town bordering the Breton capital.

The company is classified ICPE Seveso. Triadis Rennes “ensures the grouping, transit, sorting and pre-treatment of industrial and community waste”informs the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine, in a press release dated this Sunday, November 10.

Vertical smoke plume

The fire broke out around midnight. According to communication from the prefecture, there were two outbreaks. The flames were brought under control overnight by firefighters. Around 3 a.m., the fire was considered extinguished and the clearance carried out.

The fire created a vertical plume of smoke. Which “did not reach the first dwellings away from the site 600 m to the east”assures the prefecture.

State services add: “In accordance with regulations on ICPE Seveso classified sites, the firefighting water was stored in retention to be analyzed and treated. The operator also requested Apave for additional measures. »
