Fifteen days after losing one of their own in a road accident, the Millavois return to the field, at home this Sunday, November 10 (3:15 p.m.) against Avignon-Le Pontet.
Undermined by a laborious and complicated start to the season, and bruised in their flesh with the accidental and dramatic death of Loic Keita on his way to Monaco for the match a fortnight ago (also read elsewhere), the Somists are approaching the third block of meetings under pressure. Indeed, the balance sheet is not good with five defeats for a single victory, and from now on all points will count.
It starts with the reception of the Avignon-Le Pontet team this Sunday and Baptiste Majorel, the Millavois coach, is aware of this delicate situation. “In this very homogeneous group, as we see with the results every Sunday, we no longer have time to lose. We approach this block which will see us receive twice with unfailing determination. But we remain humble and we are wary of all our opponents and to be on par with the others we must raise our level of play.”
“We have everything against us”
Som, currently penultimate, is holding on in this tough group, having been so close to moving up to Federal 1 last spring. However, we can point out that during the first meetings, the Millavois faced big guns like Les Angles, Monaco or even Palavas without merit. And this series of meetings which arrives with two receptions in three matches must allow a new lease of life.
“Since the start of the season, we have had everything against us with a considerable number of injuries as well as a dramatic and extra-sporting event which left its mark on us,” says Majorel. “The project has been modified and we are starting from scratch.” Concerning the composition of this Sunday, good news is finally here for Som with the return of injured and important absentees like Grugnet, Naudan and Auzuech. “With the return of the injured, we can train in better conditions. They bring us extra freshness and energy and we expect a lot from them”still insists the South Aveyron coach.
Modified project, redefined objectives
Regaining the confidence that has been fleeing the team since the start of the season is the main quest and to move forward quickly more affordable objectives have been redefined by the staff. The Millavois will also have to succeed at the start of the match and erase the air gaps during the game which have been recurring since the start. “We worked on this” affirms the Millavois mentor. First verdict at the end of the afternoon.
