The building located at 2 boulevard de l'Europe in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy was the scene of a fire this Saturday, November 9. The fire broke out in a studio located on the ground floor of this seven-story building. To contain the fire, around fifteen firefighters from the CIS of Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy and Gentilly were mobilized with a concept “of a missing person“.
When they arrived, a large amount of smoke was coming from the patio door of this accommodation. The fire was quickly extinguished using a fire hose, the fire brigade group leader explained to us on site. Unfortunately, firefighters extracted a deceased person, a man in his sixties.
A security perimeter has been implemented. During the intervention, around forty tenants had to leave their accommodation. At 6:30 p.m., firefighters remained present to prevent the fire from resuming and to ventilate the premises.
Traffic was cut off around the building while firefighters intervened and secured the scene. The police have opened an investigation to determine the origin of the incident as well as the circumstances of the death. GRDF, EDF were also on site.
