– The man could take legal action.

A completely ludicrous situation, which is causing a scandal on the other side of the Pyrenees. While the latest provisional report shows 219 deaths after the deadly floods which hit Spain, particularly in the Valencia region, the story of Fabián Leal, a Colombian electrician, continues to make people talk. In fact, the latter works in an automobile workshop in Aladaya but was unable to reach his workplace due to flooding. A delay that could cost him his job.

Speaking to Spanish television, Fabián claims that his car was “completely destroyed” and carried away “ten blocks”. He is therefore forced to walk for two and a half hours in order to join the automobile workshop. To justify himself, he takes several videos along the way exposing the difficulties he faces to reach his workplace. But once there, his boss criticizes him for not being on time. “This morning you stayed at home being lazy”he tells him.

Fabián feared that his employer would fire him

Walking towards the workshop, Fabián had already anticipated his boss’s reaction. “He’s going to fire me if I’m not there, so I don’t know if there’s a lawyer or someone who can advise me, if there is.”assured the electrician on TikTok. “Right now I’m walking to see how I get to work, because I need this job”he continues. As his wife worked for a real estate company that was flooded, he feared losing the only source of household income.

Fabián does not exclude take legal action in order to challenge this possible decision. The Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díazasked employees not to go to work if “travel endangers your safety or interferes with rescue and recovery efforts, and your activity is incompatible with teleworking.” Work is a priority, but it is not always possible”she insisted.
