Rely on History, on vestiges, on a small museum… to make it the scene of an incredible adventure. Welcome to Roman times.

A few weeks ago (our April 5 edition), we followed the Latin students from the second, first and final classes of the Diderot high school, during an outing to the heights of the small village of Faverolles. Accompanied by Amandine Rorhbach, their classics teacher in the Mongessey woods, they had particularly scrutinized the surroundings of the Roman road. This site, where the imposing Gallo-Roman mausoleum once dominated.

The trails now allow visitors to visit the site. A methodical observation of the configuration, but also and above all of the very specific arrangements, such as the lapiaz, the quarries, the charcoal pit, the Demoiselle fountain… Elements which would be very valuable to them to then work on in class.

In the shoes of Romans

Indeed, the purpose of this location quickly led to the development of a fabulous story, of a strange murder committed some two thousand years earlier. A riddle intended to be solved by other students, those, also Latinists, in the third grade classes at Les Vignes du Crey college, in Prauthoy.

At the beginning of June, accompanied by Julie Kizirian and Candice Marion, their teachers, after a visit to the archaeological museum in the center of the village, they discovered the “crime scene”. There where the Langres high school students had already hidden themselves, costumed and ready to play their roles in front of the investigators for a day.
