In Iran, since October 14, a new law on the hijab imposes reinforced restrictions and extremely severe penalties: up to ten years in prison and heavy fines in the event of an infraction. To oppose these repressive and discriminatory rules is to risk your life. On November 2, Ahou Daryaei, an Iranian doctoral student in French literature, was arrested in Iran for protesting against this repression. Harassed on multiple occasions for wearing a veil deemed non-compliant, she protested by appearing in her underwear in front of the university.
