More fear than harm. A tragedy almost occurred in the city center of Toulouse, following a violent fire broke out on the night of Friday November 8 to Saturday November 9 in a seven-story building. Trapped by the flames, the residents were finally able to be evacuated.
11 homes made uninhabitable by the flames
The incident took place in an apartment building located on Allée Charles de Fitte, in the center of the pink city. Around midnight, the alert was given to firefighters from SDIS 31 (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service). The latter, once dispatched, quickly noticed that several residents were trapped in the fire. According to emergency services, the flames started from an apartment on the fifth floor.
“The fire was quickly contained using a hose and no injuries were reported,” testifies a firefighter in the columns of France 3. However, despite the responsiveness of the emergency services, 11 apartments were made uninhabitable by the flames. If some of the residents were able to return to their homes, or stay with relatives, the town hall was responsible for rehousing the three remaining people. An investigation was opened to determine the origin of the disaster.
