A major fire broke out on Saturday morning in the Hamra district of Beirut, causing significant damage in the area and trapping residents of the region.

According to the National Information Agency (official Ani), the fire broke out following a malfunction in a private generator in a parking lot, located near the “Barbar” restaurant.

According to images circulating on social networks, the flames, which spread quickly, set parked cars on fire and caused strong explosions, which caused panic among residents. Wisps of black smoke enveloped the immediate vicinity. Civil Defense teams were dispatched to the scene. Efforts are continuing to try to rescue local residents, as the flames have moved closer to their apartments. No reports of possible victims are available at this time.
