Means of travel are diversifying in and around La Rochelle. But the practice of urban cycling is particularly growing. With around 1.5 million cyclists crossing the Vieux Port counting point again this year – Olivier Prentout notes a sharp increase during the winter months, a sign of a practice which is profoundly changing mobility habits. “Whatever their age and social category, the Rochelais favor cycling,” notes Jean-François Fountaine, mayor of La Rochelle and president of the Agglo.
