D-day for Rugby Europe. The continental body must appoint its new president this Friday, November 8, during the elective general assembly, organized in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the western suburbs of Paris. Two candidates are in the running to succeed the Romanian Octavian Morariu, in place since 2012: the Frenchman Christian Dullin (photo above) and the Dutchman Jaheim Peters. The first of the two applicants, former secretary general of the French Rugby Federation (2016-2023), is supported by the majority of French-speaking or Francophile nations, including Italy, Georgia, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Belgium. The second will be able to count on the votes of the British bloc. Rugby Europe has 48 member countries. The body has an annual operating budget of 4 million euros. Note that another French leader, former international Abdelatif Benazzi, is a candidate for the presidency of World Rugby, the election of which will take place on November 14.
