As always since its rise in 2009, the Racing 92 qualified for the Top 14 final phase thanks to the defensive bonus point narrowly snatched from La Rochelle (24-19). If they want to continue their journey, the Ciel et Blanc will have to seek an exploit on Sunday in Bordeaux (9:05 p.m.), third in the regular season.

Sanconnie should return to the bench

According to the first training sessions observed this week at Plessis-Robinson, the Ile-de-France starting XV should hardly differ of that presented to Marcel-Deflandre. Left-hander Hassane Kolingar trained with the starters in a first line that he composed with Camille Chat and Trevor Nyakane.

In the second row, the Cameron Woki – Will Rowlands team will appear again. Stuart Lancaster will also be able to count on Fabien Sanconnie, back from suspension after his red card received in Bayonne and who should start on the bench.

Le Bail still the only professional scrum half of the 23

As we revealed to you last week, third Wenceslas Lauret is still not training with the group. His career is over. Baptiste Chouzenoux is not applying for this dam either, having only participated in contactless workshops to date.

The detrimental absence of international scrum-half Nolann Le Garrec will once again propel Clovis Le Bail into the starting position alongside Antoine Gibert. The back-up solutions for the former Palois are not legion: full-back Max Spring and winger Juan Imhoff. The first named, who has already helped out this season in 9 during the Tournament and did it again in La Rochelle, should logically have the preference of the Englishman on the bench.

Chavancy cleaned at the start of the week

In the three-quarter line, a little doubt remained on Tuesday with the absence from training of the club’s child Henry Chavancy. The latter, who suffered a blow to his calf in La Rochelle, was spared but will fully resume collective training this Wednesday. In his absence, it was former All Black Francis Saili who worked with the expected starting team.

An Ile-de-France three-quarter line still missing Wame Naituvi (knee) and Olivier Klemenczak (operated last week on a hernia in the back) but which still looks great to the point of relegating the English Christian Wade and Henry Arundell to a duel for a place on the bench.

The probable Racing team in Bordeaux

The starting XV: Tedder – Tuisova, Fickou, Chavancy or Saili, Habosi – (o) Gibert, (m) Le Bail – Diallo, Joseph, Kolisi – Rowlands, Kolisi – Nyakane, Chat, Kolingar.

The replacements: Gogichashvili, Narisia, Gomes Sa or Laclayat, Sanconnie, Baudonne, Palu or Imhoff, Spring, Wade or Arundell.
