The body of a man considered a suspect after the death of a young woman was found in a Fredericton hotel room.
The Fredericton Police Force has confirmed the death of Alexandre Bouchard, whose remains were found Friday in a hotel in the capital.
The New Brunswick Coroner’s Office is investigating.
Bouchard was the former boyfriend of Alianka Royer, a 26-year-old woman whose body was found on October 10 in her apartment on rue Ledoux, in Trois-Rivières.
The death of the mother of three young children is considered suspicious by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
“The hypothesis of natural death is still one of the possibilities considered. For the rest, we will not comment on the death of a man, even more so if it is a voluntary gesture, and whose death investigation is not the responsibility of our police force,” said Sergeant Éloïse Cossette, who is an information officer at the SQ.
The cause of death of the man, also from Trois-Rivières and who was known to police circles in Quebec, was not revealed by the Fredericton police.
“The Fredericton Police Force will leave the investigation open until the Provincial Coroner’s Office has completed its work, but at this time we have no reason to suspect that foul play may be involved. origin of death,” said Sonya Gilks, who is an information officer for the police force.
Alexandre Bouchard was arrested in March 2016 in the wake of the Nandou project, a major police operation which made it possible to dismantle a drug trafficking network in the Mauricie region.
As for Alianka Royer, she is the daughter of the former leader of the Hells Angels in Trois-Rivières, Daniel Royer.
The latter was sentenced several years ago to eight years in prison for drug trafficking and gangsterism.
