The twenty Monaco firefighters dispatched to the site had to deal with widespread fire. The intervention, which took place from 9:19 p.m. to 1:36 a.m., required the use of three hoses and was made dangerous by the presence of two gas cylinders, one of which was on fire, as well as by the structure of the building threatening ruin. .

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Four residents of the adjoining building were brought to safety by firefighters. “They were able to return to their accommodation during the night. No one was rehoused”confided this Thursday morning, Xavier Beck, mayor of Cap-d'Ail.

The building may have been squatted

Responsible for the investigation, the soldiers of the gendarmerie company favor the accidental theory, even if no avenue has yet been ruled out. The building could have been squatted by one or more individuals. Experts will have to determine the causes more precisely.
