After macOS Sonoma last year, Apple is launching a major new update to its desktop operating system with macOS Sequoia. This version notably brings Apple Intelligence AI features, which are based on powerful generative models that take personal context into account in order to improve the user experience.

Many other new features are on the program, such as iPhone Mirroring, which allows you to fully control your iPhone from your Mac: notifications, messages, navigation in the interface, applications… all compatible with the keyboard, trackpad and mouse on his computer. The new features related to Safari, the video game, the Passwords app, the layout of the tiled interface and many others are also part of the welcome improvements on the OS.

Which Macs are compatible with macOS Sequoia?

Will your machine be able to install macOS Sequoia? Here is the list of devices compatible with the update:

  • iMac: 2019 and later models
  • iMac Pro: 2017 and later models
  • Mac Sudio: 2022 models
  • Mac mini: 2018 and later models
  • Mac Pro: 2019 and later models
  • MacBook Air: 2020 models and later
  • MacBook Pro: 2018 models and later

The beta version of macOS Sequoia is already available to members of the Apple Developer Program. This will notably allow developers to adapt their applications to this new version. You won’t have to wait long to get your hands on the public beta, since it is scheduled for July. You will need to register for the Apple Beta Software program to install it on your Mac. The stable version of macOS Sequoia will be deployed this fall.

Please note that not all Mac models compatible with the update will necessarily have access to Apple Intelligence functions. These are reserved for devices equipped with at least an Apple M1 chip. Additionally, both Siri and the device’s language must first be set to English (United States) to benefit from it.
