The shortage of family doctors is therefore not improving in Quebec, which has lost 16 in just one year and which has the highest rate of doctors at the end of their career, according to the Association of General Practitioners of Quebec ( AMOQ).
According to data provided by the group after its recent annual general meeting. the number of family doctors increased from 976 to 960 in one yearsince the number of new doctors did not make it possible to fill retirements.
Everything also indicates that these retirements will accelerate, given that 30% of doctors in the Capitale-Nationale are over 60 years old, the highest rate in the province, again according to the AMOQ. These doctors alone, they follow 34% of patients.
