The silence and the absence of memory will have constituted his only testimony. Sébastien T. remained silent on Wednesday November 6, 2024, during the hearing aimed at judging him for the umpteenth time for a fire and the damage caused.

More than two months after the fire which destroyed part of a hotel in Loches, the accused chose the defense with which he was already familiar in the past: incomplete statements without the beginning of an explanation.

Several times since January 2021, Sébastien T., 41, has had to explain himself before the Criminal Court. Breaking windshields had, until then, constituted the majority of the offenses with which he was accused. “You have to take care”he dared in March 2022.

400,000 euros in damage

To the slim hopes of the victim who was hoping for answers, on Wednesday, Sébastien T. responded with contempt. He was sentenced to eight months in prison.

“It’s a very complicated moment for my client who was looking for something to understand. All this takes place in an emotionally heavy context of widowhood and inheritance worries to which vandalism is added.regrets Me Séverine Payot, lawyer for the hotel manager, contacted by The New Republic THURSDAY.

At the end of August 2024, a room at the Luccotel, located on the ground floor, was destroyed by flames and smoke. The establishment, located on the heights of the royal city, had been unoccupied and closed to the public since the death of its owner a year earlier.

According to initial insurance figures, the damage would exceed the sum of 400,000 euros.
