Bruno Le Maire said on Tuesday that he wanted “new measures” for purchasing power.

The Minister of the Economy assures that electricity bills will drop by 10 to 15% in February 2025.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, pledged on Tuesday June 11 that the French electricity bill would fall by 10 to 15% in February 2025 thanks in particular to nuclear production, denouncing the strategy energy of the National Rally.

“The electricity bill of each French person will fall by 10 to 15% in February 2025. This is the commitment I am making this morning”he declared on BFMTV/RMC. “Why? Because we relaunched nuclear power. Because we produced 330 terawatt hours of nuclear electricity last year. Because we invested in renewables. Because we believe in the independence of France and its energy independence, unlike the National Rally which puts us hand and foot tied in the hands of the Gulf countries and Russia,” he added.

An increase of 10% last February

“The National Rally said very clearly through the voice of Marine Le Pen (…) that it did not believe in renewable energies. So they will (…) leave the French in the hands of gas and electricity producers. oil with the risk (…) that the price of gas tomorrow and the price of oil will explode, either because their friend Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine, or because there will be a strong demand for oil”, he continued.

On February 1, the electricity bill increased by just under 10% on average due to the return of a government tax on all subscribers with the gradual exit of the tariff shield, very costly for public finances. On July 1, the gas bill will increase, on average by 11.7% compared to June, as a result of a rebound in prices and especially a revaluation of the price of distribution networks, necessary according to Bruno The Mayor to finance the maintenance of the gas networks.
