The Ti Menoz social center is offering a new workshop, from this Friday, November 8, with the setting up of a Repair café. The initiative is the work of two volunteers, Alain and Marcel, who recently joined the structure. “One of them, newly established in the area, has already run Repair cafés in Ireland, he came to offer his services,” says Stéphane Vienne, facilitator at the social center. “For our part, we received a lot of requests from users who are familiar with this type of approach.” Enough, therefore, to fill a gap.
Once a week
The first session, already full, will take place this Friday afternoon. The idea is to offer a weekly meeting. “It will only be by registration,” specifies the facilitator, as space within the workshop is limited.
In principle, the user comes with their device, rather a small household appliance, and a diagnosis is made. “Either the device can be repaired immediately, or it requires a part that the person will have to purchase before returning later for the repair.”
In all cases, the idea is to do it together. “This is not a repair service,” emphasizes Stéphane Vienne. “There is an educational approach, for example how to make a diagnosis, use a multimeter, make a weld.”
