Harris speaks for first time since defeat: 'We must accept the result'

KAmala Harris pledged Wednesday to “help” Donald Trump in the transfer of power after the Republican's clear victory in the race for the White House, which caused shock waves in the United States and around the world.

“We will help (Donald Trump) and his team in the transition and we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power,” Kamala Harris promised Wednesday as she acknowledged her defeat to crying supporters.

“We must accept the results of this election,” said the vice-president combatively, after being soundly defeated by the Republican.

“Keep fighting and don’t lose hope”

Former Democratic candidate Kamala Harris also called on her supporters to “keep fighting”. “The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for,” the vice president said in a speech, asserting that the “light of the promise of America will always shine (…) as long as we don’t give up and we keep fighting.”
