Chenu affirms that the RN will not make a “device agreement” with LR or Reconquest

The vice-president of the National Rally, Sébastien Chenu, had, on Sunday evening, called for a “come together beyond the parties”, “around the candidates of the National Rally”, after the strong breakthrough of the list led by Jordan Bardella in the European elections. .

The vice-president of the National Rally (RN) Sébastien Chenu assured this Monday, June 10 on BFMTV-RMC that his party will not make any agreement with Les Républicains or with Reconquête for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.

“We are not making a party agreement. Éric Zemmour is at the head of a party (Reconquest Editor’s note). There will be no agreement with LR, there will be no agreement with devices like Reconquest because we want to go beyond that,” he says, about the far-right list which gathered 5.46% of the votes.

On the other hand, the vice-president of the RN indicates that his party is ready to welcome candidates who do not come from his camp. “We aim to bring together all French people. You can come from the left, from LR, from civil society and not have any commitment,” he says. “And you recognize yourself in what we are proposing, want to participate in the country’s recovery effort, have something to contribute, you are welcome.”

“We are not sectarian people. We are for a majority which is as broad and as non-sectarian as possible,” he still maintains.

Ready to “talk” with Marion Maréchal

At the idea of reaching out to Marion Maréchal, head of the RN list for the Europeans, Sébastien Chenu appears reserved. “Marion Maréchal has just been elected a European deputy, so I don’t think she wants to become a national deputy. But we can talk, if she agrees with our platform (…), the same at LR”, said -he.

On Éric Zemmour, president of Reconquête, Sébastien Chenu considers it unlikely that he will be a candidate for the RN in the legislative elections. “He is so at odds with us himself individually and so much in opposition to the candidacy of Jordan Bardella during this campaign. I don’t believe that he is the target of the candidates that we want to have,” said -he.

“But there are very good people at Reconquête individually to whom there is no reason not to extend their hand. On the left, it’s the same (…) We tell them: ‘come, the door is open'”, maintains Sébastient Chenu.

The RN had “prepared” the dissolution

Returning to the dissolution of the National Assembly, Sébastien Chenu assures us: “we are ready, we had prepared this dissolution, we had demanded it”.

He also announces the upcoming launch of a “platform” on which the French will find “the commitments” of the RN as part of the campaign for the legislative elections.

Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday evening the dissolution of the National Assembly, after the heavy defeat of his camp against the RN in the European elections.

The RN list, led by Jordan Bardella, collected 31.36% of the votes, well ahead of the list of the majority led by Valérie Hayer who collected 14.60% of the votes. Raphaël Glucksmann, head of the list of the Socialist Party and Place publique, completes the podium (13.83%).
