It’s a victory that counts double for Corentin Moutet. Winner of Jan-Lennard Struff (40e world) in the round of 16 of the ATP 250 in Metz (7-6, 5-7, 6-3), the French player joined directly the semi-finals, due to the withdrawal of Andrey Rublev.
During the first set, the whimsical player, revealed to the general public during the last Roland-Garros, put on a show, notably returning a first ball served at 210 km/h, before winning the point after a smash from his opponent. The public then pushed him to success.
A points race canceled
This year, the Moselle Open offered a particularly strong field, with the presence of Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud, who came to seek valuable points in order to ensure their qualification for the ATP Finals. However, on Tuesday, Novak Djokovic's withdrawal reshuffled the cards and validated the participation of the two members of the top 10 at the Masters.
