More fear than harm. Tuesday November 5, 2024, in Notre-Dame-de-Bondeville, near Rouen, the residents of a building on rue Marie-Curie contacted emergency services around 10 p.m., thinking smell gas.
The firefighters immediately went to the scene “for a fire in a collective building”, notes the Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service). Even before their arrival, 17 residents of the building had already evacuated the premises.
“A smell of burnt food”
There was no fire on site but “ a smell of burnt food felt on the 1st floor and in the common areas“, note the emergency services.
This strong odor caused confusion among the residents of the building who immediately thought it was a gas leak.
After inspection of the building and additional investigations, residents were able to return to their homes shortly before midnight.
