It was a tough night for the two main candidates in the presidential election. Donald Trump is coming out of this with an advantage for the moment, although there are still long hours to go to finalize the count. We present to you the map of the first results.
While the majority of states already have their winner, there are still six of the seven swing states remaining. This morning, the advantage is given to Trump, although everything can still change.
Six key states
Only six of the seven pivotal states remain without results. The Republican candidate actually won North Carolina overnight. That leaves Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan and Nevada.
- Georgia: 51% Trump/48% Harris – 91% stripped
- Pennsylvania: 51% Trump/48% Harris – stripped to 77%
- Arizona: 49.7% Trump/49.5% Harris – stripped to 50%
- Michigan: 51.4% Trump/46.9% Harris – stripped to 36%
- Nevada: no results yet
Red wave?
Throughout the campaign, polls gave Kamala Harris a slight advantage. But in the United States, it is the rule of “winner takes all” which prevails – winner takes all. All, at the moment, are 16 states for Kamala Harris and 23 states for Donald Trump.
At 6 a.m. this morning, the Republican candidate had won 230 voters, compared to 205 for Kamala Harris. As a reminder, the winner will have to win 270 to be elected president of the United States.
