Overtaken in all sectors of the game for 30 minutes, C'Chartres Métropole Basket was swept away this Tuesday evening, against one of its direct opponents for maintenance, Evreux (87-99). A performance to quickly forget.
Chartres signed, this Tuesday evening, the worst of its performances this season. For 30 minutes, at least. Rarely seen. While we thought they were better since the arrival of recruits Ike Nwamu and Desmond Washington, Moatassim Rhennam's men took on water from all sides against Évreux, at the Colisée, up to 32 points behind. A collective shipwreck which repositions the CCMB in the red zone.
From the first minutes, Chartres was completely off topic, losing six balls in five minutes and conceding a 0-18 (4-4 then 4-20, 5'). “Airballs”, interceptions on throw-ins, defense at bay: Chartres was behind by 23 points in the first quarter (6-25, 7th). Worrying in many ways, but the worst was about to happen. On the Ebroïcian side, Dimitri Radnic and EJ Day had fun with three points. The two had 15 and 12 points respectively after 10 minutes on the floor (16-33).
Up to 32 points behind and waking up late
It wasn't much better in the second quarter. Only Rigo Edzata tried to do well, but after an unsportsmanlike performance from Desy Washington and a technical foul from coach Moatassim Rhennam, the Chartrains saw the gap grow… up to 31 lengths (17-48, 16'), to reduce it to 27 at half-time (29-56).
Basketball: C'Chartres MB – Évreux, “already a turning point in the season”, according to Moatassim Rhennam
We then thought that Chartres could only do better. But upon returning from the locker room, an unsportsmanlike call to Ahmed Doumbia allowed Évreux to take a 32-point lead (31-63, 21'). On a three-point cloud, the Ebroïcians continued their walk against the lagging Chartrains.
The entry of the very little used Djibril Diawara did a little good. With two winning shots in a row from the young leader and a better success from Edogi, the Eurelians reduced the gap at the start of the last quarter (59-81, 29').
We then saw Chartres come back in the last ten minutes (-10 points in the 39th minute: 87-97), notably thanks to Edogi (18 points). A wake-up call way too late. Évreux was already warm (87-99 defeat). A missed opportunity to leave the red zone… In Châlons-Reims, Friday, we will have to do much better.
Tackamoud leaves Chartres. The club formalized, this Tuesday, on its website, the departure of Baptiste Tackamoud (20 years old). Little used by the coach since the arrival of Washington and Nwamu, the young 2-3 position signed for Levallois, promoted to N1 and 2nd in Pool A behind Quimper. He joins two ex-Chartrains, Kévin Thalien and Patrick Clerence.
